About the Waviness API

The Waviness API leverages data collected from the extensive Mercedes-Benz vehicle fleet. It utilizes the International Roughness Index (IRI) to assess the waviness of entire road sections, providing a comprehensive view of road conditions. This approach not only complements traditional, more costly measurement methods typically used by engineering firms but also fills in the gaps between these periodic measurements.

Impact on Road Quality Analysis

With the integration of Waviness into our Data Dashboard, road quality analysis reaches new heights. Users can now benefit from more frequent and detailed data, enhancing their ability to monitor and improve road conditions effectively.

Historical Data Support: For our Surface Events product, we've added support for historical data. This means you can delve into the past to gain deeper insights into surface events, enhancing your data analytics capabilities.

Product Map Filters Upgrade: We've made managing your data even more convenient by adding select/unselect all and reset buttons to the product map filters. This feature streamlines your data selection process, allowing for quicker and more precise data management.

Product Navigation with Tooltips: Navigating through our extensive product offerings is now more intuitive than ever. We've included tooltips in the product navigation component, making it easier to discover the capabilities of each product.

Unified Detail Panels: To improve your overall user experience, we've unified detail panels across all our products. This consistency ensures a smoother workflow and easier access to vital information.

Enhanced Administration: Our commitment to providing administrators with powerful tools continues with this release. You'll now receive notifications about the deletion of inactive guest accounts. Additionally, we've introduced a safeguard to prevent the saving of invalid GeoJSON data. Plus, inactive guest accounts will be automatically deleted after a predefined period, ensuring your system remains clean and efficient.

Now available on the Data Dashboard: Parking Analytics uses the ignition and ultrasonic sensors of our Mercedes-Benz fleet, as well as historical parking data collected since 2017. As a result, Parking Analytics provides high-quality, data-driven insights for monitoring and maintaining parking supply. It analyzes the status quo and clearly presents parking probabilities and heat maps to help you make the right decisions. This is the basis for optimized parking utilization, reduced costs and increased efficiency.

We are excited to announce the integration of Surface Events into the Data Dashboard, utilizing data from the Mercedes-Benz vehicle fleet to detect road surface conditions like potholes. This innovative feature allows road authorities, cities, and municipalities to identify and monitor road damage, leading to more efficient maintenance planning and improved road safety. By offering real-time insights into surface events via our customer fleet, the Data Dashboard is taking a significant step towards creating smoother and safer roads.

We are excited to announce a series of updates that bring a new level of efficiency and control to administrators on the Data Dashboard. With the ability to now sort and search for both users and organizations, managing large sets of data has never been easier. These enhancements reflect our ongoing commitment to provide the tools needed for smooth operation and effective oversight within the platform.

Enjoy a powerful enhancement to the Mercedes-Benz Data Dashboard: the integration of external weather data for Hazard Warnings. Until now, the Hazard Warnings dataset contained anonymized event data on local hazards collected from the Mercedes-Benz vehicle fleet using the ABS and ESP sensors.

Thanks to the additional aggregated weather data, Hazard Warnings not only informs you about hazard events, but also provides the weather context for each event, creating a more comprehensive picture to increase general and individual road safety. Whether it's data on precipitation, wind gusts or extreme temperatures.

Use the additional data to further optimize your applications, your services to customers, road users and residents, your navigation services or your basic traffic warnings.

Keep an even closer eye on the local weather with the latest update to the Mercedes-Benz Data Dashboard! We have implemented the Micro Weather API in our dashboard – a product that uses the Mercedes-Benz fleet as "driving weather stations". The Micro Weather dataset provides accurate insights into temperature, rain intensity and road conditions at a local level. In this way, data from static weather stations can be optimized with real-time data from the smallest road sections.

By using this Micro Weather data, users gain a better understanding of how local weather affects driving conditions, allowing them to plan their routes and schedules more efficiently. The implementation of Micro Weather also focuses on data protection: the data, which is updated every 15 minutes, is always anonymized and only transmitted from vehicles for which the vehicle owner has given consent.

From speed limits to right-of-way to hazard warnings, traffic signs are an essential part of our daily lives. And from now on, they are also part of the Mercedes-Benz Data Dashboard. The implementation of our Traffic Signs API is another milestone, because traffic signs contain safety-relevant information that ensures safe and smooth road traffic.

The seamless integration of these signs is part of our ongoing mission to provide Dashboard users with even more insightful data to cover additional use cases. Stay tuned for more updates and improvements we are already working on.

The updated "Slippery Road" product on the Mercedes-Benz Data Dashboard now includes a powerful filtering capability, specifically designed to improve the relevancy of road condition data. Users are given the flexibility to view information based on selected time frames: the last 12, 8, 6 hours or 2 hours, the last 30 minutes or 5 minutes. The filter option enables the provision of the most up-to-date and relevant road condition data statuses and can make a decisive contribution to increasing road safety.

The new administration feature is an important new component of the Mercedes-Benz Data Dashboard. It provides administrators with the ability to manage new users, assign roles and set permissions, allowing for tighter control over who can access what information. This comprehensive feature ensures a high level of security, customizability and efficiency, making it easier than ever to manage a wide range of user requirements.

The relaunch of the Mercedes-Benz Data Dashboard takes user interaction to a new intuitive and personalized level. A revamped user registration system, including improved administrative functions, paves the way for optimized user management.
