About the Waviness API

The Waviness API leverages data collected from the extensive Mercedes-Benz vehicle fleet. It utilizes the International Roughness Index (IRI) to assess the waviness of entire road sections, providing a comprehensive view of road conditions. This approach not only complements traditional, more costly measurement methods typically used by engineering firms but also fills in the gaps between these periodic measurements.

Additionally, we've introduced a safeguard to prevent the saving of invalid GeoJSON data. Plus, inactive guest accounts will be automatically deleted after a predefined period, ensuring your system remains clean and efficient.

Weather Meets Data: Elevating Hazard Warnings on the Data Dashboard

Enjoy a powerful enhancement to the Mercedes-Benz Data Dashboard: the integration of external weather data for Hazard Warnings. Until now, the Hazard Warnings dataset contained anonymized event data on local hazards collected from the Mercedes-Benz vehicle fleet using the ABS and ESP sensors.

Thanks to the additional aggregated weather data, Hazard Warnings not only informs you about hazard events, but also provides the weather context for each event, creating a more comprehensive picture to increase general and individual road safety. Whether it's data on precipitation, wind gusts or extreme temperatures.

Use the additional data to further optimize your applications, your services to customers, road users and residents, your navigation services or your basic traffic warnings.

Micro Weather: Introducing More Precise Weather Data for the Dashboard

Keep an even closer eye on the local weather with the latest update to the Mercedes-Benz Data Dashboard! We have implemented the Micro Weather API in our dashboard – a product that uses the Mercedes-Benz fleet as "driving weather stations". The Micro Weather dataset provides accurate insights into temperature, rain intensity and road conditions at a local level. In this way, data from static weather stations can be optimized with real-time data from the smallest road sections.

By using this Micro Weather data, users gain a better understanding of how local weather affects driving conditions, allowing them to plan their routes and schedules more efficiently. The implementation of Micro Weather also focuses on data protection: the data, which is updated every 15 minutes, is always anonymized and only transmitted from vehicles for which the vehicle owner has given consent.
